Dear future first years history,
Due to the global coronavirus, the introduction period this year will be different from previous years. Unfortunately it is not possible to organize an introduction camp this year. But don’t worry, we are nevertheless busy finding replacement possibilities and we try to keep you informed as much as possible!
The Introduction Period 2020-2021 will take place from 31 August to 3 September and consists of an online mandatory faculty day and further introductory activities throughout the week!
The camp will be canceled. Because of the Coronavirus it is unfortunately not possible to organize a large scale introduction camp for you this year.
The faculty day is compulsory and will be organised online on Monday the 31st of August. Here you meet your contact points for your studies, such as your tutor and study advisor. Moreover, you get to know your entire seminar group. This part is mandatory and will take place online this year.
There will be organised online fun activities, which are not compulsory. These will be organised on Tuesday the 1st, Wednesday the 2nd and Thursday the 3rd of September.
It’s also a weird time for you as new first year students to start studying. That’s why the Introduction Committee organizes a whole week of activities to get to know your new seminar group and fellow students better. There will also be an activity to introduce you to the beautiful city of Utrecht!
Mandatory online Faculty day: Monday 31 August:
The online Faculty Day is obligatory for everyone, because this day is mainly about getting to know your new study and the university. Online, you will get to know your seminar group, get a lot of information to prepare for your new student life and have an introductory talk with your tutor and the other students in your seminar group. You will also be introduced to the Department of History and the affiliated study association called the UHSK. Furthermore, you will receive information about the rest of your first block and your first academic year!
Under the heading Programm you will find the global programme of the entire introductory period.
Under the section Introduction you can read which people are all involved in organizing the introduction days, the Introduction Committee, the mentors (under ‘seminar groups‘). Here you can also find out who your mentor will be on the faculty day and for the rest of your academic year! These mentors will guide you in the best possible way to get started with your student time!
Next, you’ll find at Information welcome letters, further introduction to the study association UHSK and the book list for the first six months of your new study.
